Welcome to the site, I’m the Deuter Trader (DT)…
I won’t go into too much personal detail, but I will give a little background. I think it might sound familiar to a lot of people.
First of all, I’m not a writer or web developer or big on social media so I doubt this will be without its errors. It may even go off on a tangent occasionally.
I’m a 40 something man from UK. I have a full-time job which pays fine and have a good work life balance. My bills are manageable but I’m looking to supplement this with a bit of pocket money at the end of each month. I also have 2 children (teenagers) and I think this is part of the reason for me wanting to succeed. I’d like to be able to treat them to extra things or holidays every now and again…holidays outside of school term dates are expensive!
The ultimate goal is to be able to earn a living from this if I choose to or if I’m forced into it if I were to ever lose my job.
I started off a few years ago doing matched betting which gave me a nice little pot of money, but then the bookies ‘gubbed’ my accounts so that stopped. That seemed to naturally lead me onto Betfair Exchange trading.
I’ve watched a LOT of videos, taken some courses. Some a waste of money, some had some good tips or different ways of thinking. I used trading software (Bet Angel) which is brilliant value for money in my opinion. I’m not (currently😉) sponsored by them in any way but if you were thinking of going down that path, I’d definitely recommend it.
I want to make it clear that nowhere on this site am I tipping or giving advice. I’m not qualified to do that. This is a personal site diarising my journey. You should always do your own research and take responsibility for your own actions. In fact it would be pretty pointless as my posts are nearly all going to be after something has happened anyway.
I’ve not been successful in creating a profit long term. I think I’m OK at trading and being able to make a profit. I know that my drawback is that I’m not good at taking losses and I try to recover them or think it will change. When I was betfair trading, mainly horse racing in the UK, I would often let it go in play if the pre-off market went against me. Sometimes this worked, but more often led to higher losses. This is why after 20 trades a day showing profit, one bad mistake would mean it wiped me out or put me in a loss for the day. That’s not sustainable.
I wondered if I created a website for the world to see me (anonymously I hope), then perhaps it would give me a bit of accountability and help my focus. Also, as I said above. I’m sure I can’t be the only one like this, so perhaps it helps others and maybe we can share some ideas if the site grows.
Why Deuter Trader? It made sense to me when looking for a name. I wonder how long it takes for you to find this website and work out its meaning.
So that’s me in a nutshell and why you’re reading this post. This will most likely go down as one of the most pointless websites created, but it’s only my time (and small domain subscription) so I’ve nothing to lose!
