That’s it, time to get real….

I find myself at a familiar place. I’m doing all the things that I’ve shown myself in the past that works. I get some horse race markets up and begin to make some profit. Nothing outstanding but a consistent flow of positive trades. Slowly increasing my trading balance. Then the inevitable happens. A trade goes against me. I take it in-play to have a chance at minimising the loss. Hopefully, I can even turn it into a green. I’ve done it before so it shouldn’t be a problem now.

This one follows a repeating theme though. The chance to turn to green doesn’t materialise. So I leave it longer. I mean the horse shouldn’t win anyway, that’s why I chose to lay it pre-off in the first place. Yep! it wins. All profits from the previous couple of days wiped out, plus a bit more.

I wasn’t even going to trade on the weekend. I just wanted to earn a little bit of extra money during the week. I can then look to withdraw profits at the end of each month.

This has happened many times over the last couple of years. It’s a common trait of the non-professional sports traders. I know it’s going to strike again, yet I still let it.

After a short break from trading, I decided to refocus on being more disciplined. It appeared to be working…£38.33 profit from 23 markets.

Then the next day, still going well…£30.09 from 16 markets.

I’d decided that I don’t want to have to rely on weekends so I wasn’t going to trade today. For some reason though I think I thought I’d cracked it ‘again’ so thought I’d just top it up another £20 or so. The trades didn’t start of great, 2 out of 3 losers to begin but got into about £7 profit over the next 5 markets. For some reason though I decided to do one last one before I went to make tea. Obviously it went wrong. Trade didn’t go as planned, so let it go in play, and the rest is history….-£100 leaving me with -£93 for the day.

I walked away from the laptop and went down to make tea. It didn’t overly bother me though, but it was just like that feeling you feared as a child from your parents. I wasn’t angry…just disappointed!

Afterall, I had still more or less broken even minus a few ££ over the last few days of starting up again. And a break even day should be treated as a win. So I’d learnt my lesson.

Until Sunday! This one hurt a little more. £22.75 up for the day. Target hit, no need to push it.

Just a couple more though, see if I can get it to £30 for the day.

Nope. The Exchange Gods had decided to punish me again. This time -£113.40, leaving me with a loss of £115.69 since I started up again and a loss of £184.11 over the last 2 days.

And this brings me to the blog…
